The Company
What events do you provide musicians for?
We specialise in providing choirs for all types of event. Our choirs are ideal for session recordings, live broadcasts, corporate and commercial events, weddings, religious ceremonies, private parties and flashmob events. We will consider any booking and do everything we can to fulfill the needs of a client. We have a track record for taking on very unusual and creative bookings where other agencies will not.
Are all the singers professional choral musicians?
All of our singers are professional musicians, and most of them have a background in choral music. A condition of their membership of ChoirFixer is that they are a regular member of a well known UK professional choir. Some of our singers have a background in jazz singing, in Accapella or in Opera and, in this way, we are able to offer a wide variety of professional ensembles.
Where are your singers based?
ChoirFixer has its' main office in London and most of the singers are based in or around the city. As our bookings are spread all across the UK (and abroad) we ask clients to cover the costs of travel from London for any bookings that are outside of the city of London. From time to time we are able to save on travel costs when there is a local singer able to accept the booking, or other options for sharing travel costs.
Why should I book with ChoirFixer?
Our Company Director has an extensive knowledge and experience of the industry and is very well connected within the choral scene in Europe and around the world. All of our singers meet very high standards of performance, and you are protected by our Insurance cover and by our inclusive contract.
How can I be sure that your choirs are as good as your website says they are?
Our network of professional singers are not only talented but have shown themselves to be professional and reliable members of the UK's finest professional choirs. Secure in this knowledge, we know you will not be disappointed. If you want to know more about a choir before you book, please get in touch with us and we can let you know more about the individual singers.

Booking
How do I know if the choir I want is available?
ChoirFixer prepares and manages bespoke groups from an extensive pool of singers, so we can guarantee that a group will be available for you - we don't know of any other agency able to offer that kind of promise.
How do I secure a booking?
Your booking is confirmed as soon as you have signed the contract with us, and we have counter-signed it. This contract will show the agreed dates, fees and other details that have been agreed between us.
How can I see and hear a choir perform before I book?
Because we fix our choirs on an ad hoc basis it is not possible to see recordings or performances by the group that you are booking. However, we have a few recordings on our site which give an indication of what you might expect from some of our groups. You can find these on the choir pages.
Do I have to book a specific musician?
Not at all. You can request specific musicians if you wish, and we will always advise you of the best options based on your needs.
How do I make a booking?
To set the ball rolling please fill out the Booking Request form on our website. We will then review the information there, we will contact you for a chat about the booking, and then send you a quote based on your criteria. Feel free to call us too if you would rather deal with us on the phone only.

Musical Performance
How long does it take for a choir to set up?
It depends on whether they have any equipment to set up. We would typically arrange to arrive at least an hour ahead of a performance time in order to have a vocal warm-up and a little time to relax before performing. It is helpful if you can supply a room where this can be done without disturbing your other guests.
Which areas do you cover?
We are able to reach all locations throughout the UK and Europe.
Can we have a choir that performs in the background during our event?
Yes, but please note that singers voices do not carry over a very loud room of guests, so in a circumstance like this we would discuss with you the acoustic of the performance space and whether any amplification may be needed. We can arrange to bring a PA system for an additional fee.
What is a PA system?
PA stands for "public address" system. It is an electronic sound amplification and distribution system with a microphone, amplifier and loudspeakers, used to boost the volume of a performance. Our choirs do not use a PA system as standard but, for an additional fee, we can provide a PA system if required.
How loud are the choirs?
The maximum volume of each choir is determined by the number of singers. All of our quartets are comprised of 4 strong voices who will be adequately audible in an environment where there is minimal background noise. For larger or noisy venues, we will advise you on the size of group you may need.
Can I request songs that I want?
Yes, and even if we don't already know the songs we will always aim to include these free of charge, providing we are given plenty of notice. We do this by searching International publishers and online libraries to find versions of your song that have already been transcribed for voices, and it is in our interest to source new material which we can then add to our musc library for future use. If we are unable to find a published version of your requested song then we can still sing it for you, but there would be a fee of £50 per song. This fee pays for world class arranger to transcribe the music for us, using our Arranging & Compising service. If you do have a special request, please enquire about this when making your initial booking.
Can I choose all the songs?
Yes, but it may affect the final cost of your booking and could take several days to research before we can provide you with an accurate quote. We do not expect our clients to choose all the songs though, and all of our choirs are experienced in performing at events and have tried and tested set lists that will work for your audience. So, ultimately, it is best to let them write the set list.
What kind of choir do you recommend for a corporate function?
There are many options, and we can advise you on what will best fit around your theme once you have told us the details of your event. Most of our groups will work very well in any situation and the main thing we would ask you to consider is the size of the group that would be appropriate. We recommend a larger choir in the case of a venue that is very expansive, or that has high ceilings. Similarly, outdoor venues or any event where guests will be expected to make a lot of background noise are better suited to a larger choir.
Can you book my favourite celebrity performer?
We have well established connections with many music industry managers and agents, and can provide you quotes for booking celebrity performers. Typically, once we have this information, we would let you deal directly with their agent for the purpose of contracting them.
How long does a group perform for?
Our choirs are required to take a 15min break in a 3 hour period for recording sessions, and a shorter break after each 30mins of singing during performance booking, and typically we would not recommend booking singers for more than 3 x 30min sets of music. Usually they will be flexible around the lengths of set times and may agree to sing 2 x 45mins for instance, but you must allow for their voices to rest properly and longer sets will mean more tired voices. If you have specific requirements outside of this pattern then please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate it.
What if I need to change the timings of a performance?
We always allow a little bit of extra time on our bookings for delays, which are very common, but if you need to change the lengths of the music sets, or delay them considerably then please speak to the lead contact. In most cases our groups can be very flexible about this, but it should not be assumed that it will be possible to alter the arrival and departure times. In some cases, if a delay is significant, an overtime fee will be due to each of the performers. This rate is payable at 1.5 times the standard rate per half hour (approximately £30 per performer per half hour), and must be paid in advance of the performers staying.
My event is due to end very late, is that a problem?
No, our performers will work at any times of day. However, as members of the Musicians Union, if the singers need to travel home late ate night we may have to charge what is called a "Late return fee". Evening entertainment can mean being away from home for long hours, but also may mean missing last trains home, and this fee is a small top up on travel expenses to cover any extra costs incurred.
What kind of groups do you provide?
We can provide any genre of music, even if it isn’t on our list. We have access to an extensive network of professional singers with a very wide variety of experience and skills, so please do tell us what you’re looking for and we'll do our best to organise it for you.
Can we see a list of songs that each group will perform?
Some of the groups have a regularly changing repertoire and are unable to list their repertoire. This is aprticularly the case for any of our bespoke groups who do not rehearse when there are no bookings in the pipeline. We endeavour to list all the songs that we can on the individual choir pages.
Will they learn songs that are not on their playlist?
Our groups will endeavor to learn any songs that you request, so long as they have sufficient notice to find the scores and prepare them thoroughly. In most cases this is not a problem and, if they can't find your requested song, it can be arranged specially for the performance - we usually charge £50 per song for this service.
Can I record the performance to keep as a memory?
Audio or Visual recordings of our performers are strictly prohibited unless agreed in advance in writing. This is for the protection of our performers' rights. In most cases (except for weddings) there would be an additional fee to pay if you want to make a recording. We do not, however, expect clients to police their guests to stop them using smartphones in this way.

Insurance
What Insurance do I have against something going wrong?
No one can predict what may or may not go wrong at an event, but ChoirFixer Limited has Entertainments Liability Insurance Policy with Hencilla Canworth that covers all of our performers in the event of damage or a personal accident. We make sure that our performers are not put into a dangerous situation in the first place, and we advise our clients if we suspect that something about the booking might present such a problem.
What is the extent of the Insurance cover?
The Insurance cover is for £2 Million, and has a few exemptions. These exemptions include; the operation of machinery such as motor vehicles, boats or aircraft, and also the use of pyrotechnics and anything you might expect would have it's own separate insurance cover.
Can I see a copy of your policy?
Yes, of course. We will be very happy to send a copy of this upon request. However, please note that our performers do not carry a copy on their person when attending a booking.

Payments & Contracts
How much does each choir cost?
The cost of each group we provide is based on the number of performers, the duration of performance and the requirements for preparation. Our fees begin at £130 per singer which is inclusive of all our administrative costs. Our rates are based on the Musicians Union minimum recommended fees, so unfortunately we are unable to negotiate on our rates.
When is the payment due?
When you sign a contract to confirm a booking you a agree to make payment either on or before the date of the performance. We are not an agency in the traditional sense, and we maintain more control over our performers and we do not collect a deposit or a separate agency fee ahead of a booking.
What if I need to cancel?
In the event that you need to cancel a booking more than 60 days before the date of the performance, no fee will apply. However, if you have to cancel the booking within 60 days of the performance then 50% of the total fee is payable. There are some exceptions to this condition, and we always try to re-negotiate a new performance date if at all possible. If we can free our client from this obligation then we will do.
What happens if the choir does not turn up?
This has never happened in the history of the company and is an extremely rare occurrence in the entertainments industry, however, it can happen. If this happens for reasons other than ‘Force Majeure’ then ChoirFixer Limited will be in breach of contract and you will be within your rights to sue us for damages. If we cancel due to ‘Force Majeure’ then we may not be held liabile. In either situation, you can be reassured that we will do our best to find a suitable replacement. A direct booking with another choir could leave you without a group at the last minute, where Choirfixer can help to solve a problem like this without the need for further contracts being signed.
What is Force Majeure?
Force Majeure (French for "superior force"), also known as cas fortuit (French) or casus fortuitus (Latin), is a common clause in contracts which essentially frees both parties from liability or obligation when an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of the parties, such as a war, strike, riot, crime, or an event described by the legal term "act of God" (e.g., flooding, earthquake, volcano), prevents one or both parties from fulfilling their obligations under the contract. [Source, Wikipedia]
What else is included in the contract?
Our contracts are tailored to each booking. Depending on the duration or geographical location of the booking it may be required to agree a "Rider". This is an additional part of the standard contract that may require for you to provide accommodation and meals, amongst other things. Please be assured we would not spring this type of requirement on you, it would be discussed well in advance of signing a contract.
Do I need to provide parking?
No, you do not need to provide parking facilities, but if there is no parking at your venue then it is very helpful if you can advise us of any nearby parking options that you know of.
Do I need to provide refreshments or a meal?
We ask all clients to provide basic refreshments of water, tea and coffee (you are not required to supply alcohol) and these should be free during the event. If your booking will be longer than 3 hours duration then we also ask you to provide a meal for the singers. It’s worth remembering that a well fed choir is a happy choir! This doesn't mean they need a 3 course meal but also a few sandwiches may not sustain them throughout the night when they are expected to give you and your guests a fantastic performance.
Do I need to provide any areas for the choir other than the performance space?
Most of our choirs require a changing area with privacy. If you have a comfortable room with a mirror, chairs and electricity supply, then that is ideal (though not essential). It can be a very useful area to relax between performance sets. Also, it is helpful if you can provide a space where the singers can warm-up their voices without disturbing your guests.
Do I need to provide any security?
We ask clients to provide a secure room or area where the choir can leave their valuables locked away safely during their performance. Please let us know if you are operating any specific security on site as you may need to or use the singers with security passes, or collect a list of their names to provide to your security desk.
What else do the musicians need?
In most cases our performers will contact you to discuss the finer details of the booking. They will want to confirm timings with you, including times of arrival, sound check (if applicable) and, most importantly, they will want to confirm the musical content of their performance, so there are no surprises. They will also need to confirm some of the booking information, such as; whether you will be providing a meal in addition to refreshments, and what they should wear for the performance. They may also want to ask you some questions about the venue so that they have an idea of what to expect from the acoustic.
Are there any hidden costs?
No, all of our fee will be included in the total fee that is agreed before proceeding to sign a contract. ChoirFixer is not VAT registered, and our administrative fees are included in the cost per singer. Travel expenses are applicable for any journey outside of London Zone 6, but this cost is also calculated in advance and included within the total fee quoted.

Artists
I’m a Musician. Can I join ChoirFixer?
If you are an ensemble Singer, an Accompanist/Organist, a Choral Director or an Arranger/Composer, then we would be interested to hear from you. Please send us details of your current experience, either as a CV or in the form of a short biography.
For singers, the minimum requirement is that you sing regularly with a renowned professional choir and this credential takes the place of needing to audition.
Do I have to audition live or can I send a recording?
You will need to send a short sound clip that was recorded within the past 6 months and that demonstrates your vocal tone. This recording must be of you singing on your own, not as part of an ensemble, but it need not be a high quality sound recording. This recording will be used to help in the fixing process, to ensure that choirs we assemble are always balanced.
Are there subscription fees involved?
No, and there are also no variable rates of pay. Everyone gets paid the same rate, including organists and accompanists.
What are the benefits of joining ChoirFixer?
There are no guarantees of work by being a member of ChoirFixer, but if you do accept a booking you will enjoy the security of Public Liability and Entertainments Liability Insurance, the opportunity to sing with other excellent musicians, and a supportive and friendly environment to work in.
